Extra Credit

 

These are several extra credit assignments you may complete.  More in depth work will be given extra consideration as far as credit is assigned.  A maximum 200 extra credit points may be earned each quarter. All extra credit must be turned in by the last Monday before the end of the quarter. Any work that is not solely the individuals will not be accepted.

 

Address any one of the following topics as they relate to the content we are studying or have studied in science class.

Inquiry Projects

--  With no limitations to your science knowledge create a machine or device that will help reduce the amount of air pollution humans contribute to the environment.  Explain how it would theoretically work.  What are the advantages and disadvantages of this device?  How could it have a negative impact on the environment?

 

-- Create a model/drawing of a weather balloon with photographic capabilities.  Explain how it would work and what it would be used for.  What are some potential obstacles you could face?  How would you address these obstacles?

 

-- Pick three characteristic traits you have and create Punnet squares and pedigree charts tracing back at least two generations.

 

 

 

Research Project

-- Research a genetic disease or disorder.  Write a research paper on the causes, symptons, and treatment of the disease/disorder.

 

-- Choose six of the human body system and describe how they are interconnected.  Draw a diagram/illustration telling how they are intereconnected and describing what would the results of one of the systems failing be.

 

-- Research the history and foundation of meteorology?  How has technology improved meteorology and what affect has that had on the how we are stewards of the environment?

 

-- Research anyone one of the following scientists and their contribution to Cellular Biology:

     -- Robert Hooke, Anton van Leeuwenhook, Matthias Schleiden, Theodor Schwann, Rudolph Virchow

 

-- What is the WICB as it pertains to cellular biology?

 

-- What affect has 3-D printing had on cellular biology?
